Use the Account Data Exchange to securely transfer data by easily downloading your existing account information in one file and then uploading it to another account
Our platform offers the opportunity to download your existing account data using our Account Data Exchange tool. You will be provided with a unique and secure Account Data File (with a .cmx extension). You can then take this file and upload it to another account. The file will include information you have loaded into your account, such as the following:
- Profile information
- Mailing Lists
- Network Connections
The Account Data File will not include:
- Vendor content
- All reporting activity such as, but not limited to:
- Email Reporting
- Activity by Posted Item Reporting
- Active Lead Reporting
To obtain YOUR account data in a single transfer file, use the Account Data Exchange to download your account information.
Downloading your secure Account Data FIle:
Step 1: Click on “My Account” under the right-hand corner drop-down menu in the navigation bar (the gear menu).
Step 2: Scroll down past the “Save” button to the section labeled “Your Account Data”:
Step 3: Click on the “Download / Upload Your Data” button shown in the above screenshot.
Step 4: You will then be brought to a page labeled “Account Data Exchange”. This page will inform you of the Data Exchange process and provide you with options to download your Account Data File and upload your Account Data File. To download your Account Data File, please click on the first button labeled “Download Account Data File”.
Note: The file will then be downloaded to your computer and put in your “Downloads” folder. This file is a .cmx file unique to our platform.
Uploading your Account Data File to a new account will insert information from the original account. Uploading your Account Data File to an existing account will overwrite some data such as your Account and Profile information, but other records such as Contacts and Networks will be updated.
Upload your Account Data File using the Account Data Exchange:
Note: Please follow Steps 1-3 stated above to find your way to the “Account Data Exchange” Page.
Step 1: Click on the “Choose File” button and choose your Account Data File from your downloads folder (or other location where it was saved on your device). Remember, this file is unique to the platform and will have a .cmx file extension.
Step 2: Once you have chosen the Account Data File from your device, you can now click on the second blue button labeled “Upload Account Data FIle” shown in the screenshot above.
Step 3: Once you click the upload button, you will be brought to a confirmation page, confirming that your account information is coming from the correct account. This confirmation page will show the username of the account from where this data originated. Please make sure this information is correct before you proceed, then press “Confirm”.
Once you click “Confirm”, you will be brought to a page that states your Data Exchange has been successful.

The information you are downloading is the personal data that you control. Only you have the ability to download this data and upload it to another account provided by ContentMX. This data is encrypted to keep it safe and to prevent secure information related to your network connections from being revealed.
